Time for Thanks and Giving

Thanksgiving.jpeg

November is all about Thanksgiving, a holiday where we reflect on our blessings throughout the year. The fact is, 2020 has been a challenging year for most people and businesses across the country. Through it all though, at Liberty Storage Solutions, we have been ever grateful and thankful for our amazing customers who have supported us and kept us busy.

In addition, we love to be thankful while giving. One of our core values is that we create a positive and lasting impact on lives within and outside the organization. And with joyful hearts, at Liberty Storage Solutions, our employees and the company actively support local and even global organizations. We would like to highlight a few non-profits we have worked with this year and encourage you to become involved with one of them, or one that is near to your heart.

Purple Heart Homes

This non-profit, veteran focused charity is aimed at improving veterans’ lives one home at a time. This fantastic organization provides housing solutions for our veteran population. From building ramps, to daily maintenance, and bringing groceries to hosting community veteran gatherings, Purple Heart Homes helps fill the gaps in Veterans home ownership programs.

Even as our name touts “Liberty”, we owe our Liberty to our veterans and are proud sponsors for this amazing group. There are many opportunities to get involved. You can check out their website at: www.purplehearthomesusa.org

Down Syndrome Association of Winston-Salem (DSA of GWS)

It was a real treat for many of our Liberty employees to be a Gold Sponsor of the 2020 Buddy Walk held by the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem. The Buddy Walk was created in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome. The entire office registered with “Lydia’s Dream Team”. We even got a special thank you from Lydia at our office where she prepared a speech, a sign, and even baked fall goodies!

The DSA of GWS has such a wonderful mission of providing support and information to parents of children and adults with Down syndrome in the Piedmont area. Their goal is to support each other and enrich the lives of these children and adults so they can reach their full potential. Their newest initiative, the “First Call” program where doctors connect newly diagnosed Down Syndrome families with other families in the Down Syndrome community. These connections build a beautiful community while beginning a mentoring process.

Shining Light Children’s Home

When considering giving outside our local areas, Liberty selected a wonderful organization called Shining Light Children’s Home in Mexico. This organization cares for children who have no parents or were neglected by parents in an area of Mexico that has serious issues in drug trafficking and violence. Shining Light cooperates with social services in Mexico helping to either return children to parents when possible or to encourage adoptions within the country.

The children at SLCH may be there for one month, or many years. Regardless of how long the stay is, SLCH aims to provide an environment where the children can receive education to thrive and learn the basic skills of life. You can learn more about their mission and follow their blog on the SLCH website. We couldn’t be more thrilled to team with SLCH in caring for these precious children.

As we all prepare to sit around the table this Thanksgiving with friends and family, we hope you all have the chance to give thanks and consider ways of giving back in 2021.

“Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” Psalm 107:8-9
